Announcement: TAASA Statement in Response to Landmark Ruling to Overturn Roe V. Wade

TAASA Statement in Response to Landmark Ruling to Overturn Roe V. Wade

TAASA unequivocally stands with survivors of sexual assault.

We are profoundly disheartened by today’s Supreme Court decision to remove the constitutional protection of a woman’s fundamental right to make a life-altering decision.

The effects of this ruling will be especially devastating for survivors of sexual assault.

A survivor of sexual assault already has experienced the ultimate violation of their body through no fault or no choice of their own; they are left to endure the lasting effects, both physically and emotionally, of this violent crime.

Options are vital to healing. The right to decide how to move forward in the aftermath of sexual violence is key to a survivor’s recovery and ability to regain control of their lives.

As we grapple with the consequences of this ruling in Texas, we stand firm in our belief that survivors of sexual assault deserve dignity, justice, and bodily autonomy.
