Incarcerated Survivor Advocacy Program

ISAP offers support, advocacy, and resources to incarcerated survivors, service providers, and correctional staff. Our ISAP staff advocates for survivors of sexual assault in correctional facilities across the state and monitors facility compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA).

How ISAP Works

Support

ISAP provides support to incarcerated survivors through correspondence, case management, and the Coping Inside program. We also provide support and training to local centers that serve or are interested in serving incarcerated survivors, and correctional agencies.

Advocacy

ISAP works closely with the Policy and Advocacy team to provide individual and systems advocacy on issues related to increasing sexual safety in local and state correctional facilities.

Resources

ISAP creates and distributes tailored resources to respond to the needs of incarcerated survivors and the people who serve them in the community.

What We Believe

ISAP & TAASA believe that no one deserves to be raped regardless of whether they have committed a criminal act. All survivors of sexual assault deserve the same level of respect, compassion, and services as survivors in the community. We also acknowledge that incarcerated survivors have unique needs and may require tailored services.
