Job Opening: Public Education Coordinator – The Rape Crisis Center – San Antonio

The Rape Crisis Center has the position of Public Education Coordinator available. The main responsibilities of the position include conducting training workshops and seminars for law enforcement and victim-serving professionals in the community about sexual violence prevention and response, survivor sensitivity, and available services. The Education Coordinator will cultivate and maintain professional partnerships and develop training programs, activities, and events focused on increasing knowledge of the realities of sexual violence.

The Education Coordinator also acts as one of The Center’s representatives at coalition meetings and other events, as required; participates in television and media events, as appropriate; attends meetings after normal working hours; and performs other tasks as required. The Center expects the Education Coordinator to take an active role and participate in professional growth endeavors to increase their skills as a public speaker, activist for the agency, and expert in the issues surrounding sexual violence.

Requirements: Four-year degree in a related field preferred and previous experience in public speaking. Must possess excellent time management skills, excellent communications skills (both verbal and written), and the ability to handle a variety of diverse problems in a stressful environment. The position requires the ability to work nights and weekends as needed and prior work experience in a trauma center or crisis response center is preferred. Experience with typing and data entry is preferred. Light lifting required and the selected candidate must complete The Rape Crisis Center 40-hour required training. Bilingual a plus.

Special Skills and Abilities: Experience presenting to large groups; ability to work well independently and on a team; maturity and good judgment in relating to peers; ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds; experience with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; and availability, dependability, and willingness to be flexible.

Full-Time Employment: 40 hours/week, including some evenings and weekends

Salary Range: $32,000 – $38,000
