Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA) has a mission to end sexual violence in Texas through education, prevention, and advocacy. The impact of sexual violence in Texas is deep and wide. According to the Institute on Domestic and Sexual Violence (IDVSA) at the University of Texas at Austin, 6.3 million Texans will experience some form of sexual violence in their lifetime. That is more than the populations of Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, and Fort Worth combined.

Allegations of Sexual Assault & Media Coverage
In light of intense media interest regarding the validity of sexual assault allegations, the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA), one of many coalitions committed to ending sexual violence, strongly feels the need to insert a voice for survivors into the conversation. We are disheartened with the trivialization of sexual assault and the false assumptions made about victims of sexual abuse. Share Your Resources at the National Level
TAASA is excited to host the National Sexual Assault Conference (NSAC) in Dallas, Texas next June! If you have a story or solution that could help us do the work better, this may be an opportunity for you to share with other professionals in the movement!
Submit your workshop proposal by November 11, 2016. We’re calling all presenters interested in sharing resources, lessons, and/or solutions to end sexual violence. Stay tuned for updates at taasa.org/nsac.
Speak Up Speak Out is Back!
TAASA’s outreach campaign, Speak Up, Speak Out, has been an invaluable resource for survivors of sexual violence in Texas for more than a decade. It is a collection of survivor’s stories that put real, human faces to the inhumanity of sexual violence and serves as permission and encouragement for survivors to seek help and to tell their stories as part of the healing process. These stories also act as a stark, powerful reminder that we cannot rest in our efforts to end sexual violence in Texas.
